Divas’ Review

Ever since we were destroyed by the worst book hang-overs EVER with Aleatha’s Consequences series, we have been waiting (very impatiently) for her next work of art!  Yes, I say “work of art” because she truly is an artist with how she puts her words together to create such intriguing and unique stories and Insidious definitely falls into that same category.  Aleatha has delivered, yet again, a fascinating, sexually explosive story that definitely takes a dive into the “Dark Side”  which kept me guessing and needing to read more. Of course, just like the other ones, I can’t say too much without giving something away so I will just have to say, “Get this book!!!” Okay, well I may have to say a little more than that but I promise no spoilers. 🙂  Seriously though, I don’t know how she does it but Aleatha has an amazing ability to create characters that you don’t know if you’re going to love or hate throughout the book and Insidious was no different in that aspect.  The only problem I have is that it is over…no second, third, fourth, fifth…to look forward to because I certainly have a love/hate relationship with series’ with heart-stopping cliffhangers but I’ll tell you this much, the end threw me off enough to where I needed to re-read it a few times and I suppose that will have to do and I’ll just have to wait for her next one to get more Aleatha!

So God help us, we loved this book! Aaah. There´s hardly a day that goes by without thinking about Naz and Karissa. What a wonderful, 100% exciting story! And what´s best of all….it´s written from Naz´s POV * dramatic faint *

For those of you who read book #1, Monster In His Eyes, will find this story fulfilling in the best way ever.

This book starts off where book #1 ended- with Karissa hating Naz, and turned out to be an adventure of the two main characters trying desperately to win each others trust back, without trying to hurt each other along the way.

* sigh * we all know that´s not possible. Lol. Not with Naz, and certainly not with Karissa.

Much to our delight…Naz and Karissa gave us what we love in a good book. Angst ( lots of it), love & sex * drop-dead-fantastic *, and of course their struggle to keep each other and chose between right and wrong. And let us tell you- some scenes sent chills down our spines ( in a good and bad way)!!

An absolute MUST READ about love that shouldn´t have existed from the start.

( and we soooooo glad that love happened!)

Would we recommend this book?

• Absolutely

Would we re-read this book?

• most definitely. This book is worth going back to reread some scenes.

We´ve been seeing Jojo Moyes´name all over the place. And yet, we took our precious time before actually reading one of her books. Was it worth it? Oh, it sure was.

This book definitely needs to be read.

This story is the perfect example of what real life does. It sometimes screws you over. And when things begin to look brighter again, life comes back and screws with you again.

And that´s what happened to the characters in this story.

The characters were a nice new breeze of fresh air. We loved the realistic issues these characters dealt with. There were alot of highs and lows and we loved it!

We can´t say we swooned over any character because it actually wasn´t THAT kind of story. We loved each figure for who they were. Normal people who went through their own struggles and somehow managed to stay normal despite what was happening to them.

All we´re going to say about this book is that you have to read it yourself to find out what´s so special about it. The story was a delightful, well written read.

We´re glad we chose this one.

Now all we need to do is start reading all Jojo Moyes´ books..:-)

The only thing we disliked was the cover. Those are some special colors. Lol

Would re recommend this book?

Yes, we would. This is a wonderful, charming story.

A Dangerous Night with the Divas

Okay. So, maybe this wasn´t a dangerous night. It wasn´t even an eventful night either! But this is a subject that needs to be discussed. 

TBR lists.

Seriously? They´re impossible to manage. If you have a list with 10 unread books ( we know we´re being unrealistic here. TBR lists are MUCH longer!)….you get to read 2 out of the 10 and then CRASH BOOK BANG! A few authors release their books and your list doubles within no time. Surely….we aren´t the only ones with this problem.

* this is the TBR list that never ends…yes it goes on and on my friend…* ( singing the song ” The song that never ends” from Lambchops. If you have no clue about that song…click the link. It´s annoyingly cute)

Now since we all have a mile long list of books that need our attention…what would be the best solution to solve our problem?

Is there a cure for a TBR issue? Obviously….we all won´t live to be 180 years old….so how will we be able to read all those wondeful stories?

And why do we always skip our TRB´s and read something that wasn´t even on the list to begin with?

I´m going to be very VERY generous about this series. I´m going to rate the series now instead of this book alone because I can´t stomache the thought from starting out with 4* then going down to 3* and then ending with 2*. Which was exactly what happened. I´d rate this book with a solid 2* because it was disappointing in so many ways.

If I compare book 1 to book 3 then there´s a major difference in the whole story. There was nothing left from the woman who hid in the dark. Hell…she was long gone with book #2 and was replaced with a woman who was anything but likable. Everything….I really mean everything happened in a blur.

After all was good again with Alex and Daimon, and all obsticals were pushed aside ( okay…they were killed. End of) they were out to kill the princess of Monaco! Again…I had such a hard time picturing the Grimaldi´s as they were discribed in this series.

To make a long rant short:

I thought there would be a hell lot more killing ( considering their abilities and all) and also alot more ruthlessness. I mean…Daimon was a killer for crying out loud. And nothing happened. Important characters were left to live their lives and the unimportant characters were killed.

Plus…the full truth about Alex was told in this book. Unimpressive.

And the end…..well, I´d rather not go there now. Let´s just say I was totally disappointed.

Now…there is one thing that won´t leave me alone. Why write a series with each book having less than 300 pages? Why not take the story and just make one book out of it? It just doesn´t make any sense to me.

The story could have fit into 1 book. Easily.

And then there´s the cover. It´s supposed to be a series…..so why not make the covers match?

This wasn´t the worst series I´ve read…..it started of fab and turned out not so fab.

Would I recommend this book?

This book? Vol. 3? No. I wouldn´t. The series? Yeah. Why not. Just because I was disappointed doesn´t mean everyone else will be.

Would I re-read this book?

Nope.

No. Cassia Leo did NOT do another masterpiece with this one. I´m not wanting to come across as rude or anything….I just can´t sum up the love I felt for the first Volume. There wasn´t anything cool about this one. This was just a story that was told. It was nothing I expected it to be. I was left wanting so much more after the first book.

Vol. 2 starts off where Vol. 1 ended. Alex ran away to an Island and started hiding. She gave herself a new identity and was ready to start a new life.

I don´t know. What started out great turned into non-interesting. Alex´s new life with all the new people…it felt like, after Alex and Daimon had their fatal stand-off, there was so much missing. What really threw me off was how Alex transformed from being dark, dangerous & mysterious to being open with her issues and having fun on the Island. And just like that….I started disliking Alex / Alyssa. What happened to the woman who hid her face?

Anyway: Alyssa starts dating her neighbor and gets involved with life. That´s until she gets this errie feeling that somethings not right. And she´s right!

( totally predictable story since Alex wasn´t so sure she really killed Daimon)

Things start to happen and Alyssa gets sloppy.

All of the sudden things pick up and get interesting again. It took a while…but the fun was back and my hope returned for this book to knock me off my socks. But who was I kidding ( I should really stop hoping so much) there was nothing that I didn´t see coming.

Not even the end tickled me. I´m not saying this book was God-awful…it was just a predictable. And somewhat far fetched. Being a hitman is a scary thing. And writing a story about it can be way cool. But to involve Monaco and the Grimaldi´s is way to far fetched. I live in Europe and I see alot of the actual Grimaldis on the news, etc. so I have a hard time picturing Alex being the princess of Monaco. Or being the daughter of the princess of Monaco. Either way….I couldn´t visualize that.

Let´s not forget about the 200 pages. I flew through that story in a night.+

Would I recommend this book?

Hmm….maybe.

Would I re-read this book?

Probably not.
