We´ve been seeing Jojo Moyes´name all over the place. And yet, we took our precious time before actually reading one of her books. Was it worth it? Oh, it sure was.
This book definitely needs to be read.
This story is the perfect example of what real life does. It sometimes screws you over. And when things begin to look brighter again, life comes back and screws with you again.
And that´s what happened to the characters in this story.
The characters were a nice new breeze of fresh air. We loved the realistic issues these characters dealt with. There were alot of highs and lows and we loved it!
We can´t say we swooned over any character because it actually wasn´t THAT kind of story. We loved each figure for who they were. Normal people who went through their own struggles and somehow managed to stay normal despite what was happening to them.
All we´re going to say about this book is that you have to read it yourself to find out what´s so special about it. The story was a delightful, well written read.
We´re glad we chose this one.
Now all we need to do is start reading all Jojo Moyes´ books..:-)
The only thing we disliked was the cover. Those are some special colors. Lol
Would re recommend this book?
Yes, we would. This is a wonderful, charming story.
Would we re-read this book?
We sure will.

Dace is forced to choose between his vivacious brother, Michael, and the malicious Ettore. No matter his choice, his prime interest is protecting his little brother Antony from getting into more trouble than he already has, all the while trying to keep himself from the beautifully tempting, female detective, Austin Reed.

This author never fails to amaze me.
I read The Law Of Kings and I was once again sucked into a world with characters I wish were real.
I just love criminals. Especially the ones created by this author. Dace, and his three other brothers, belong to a well respected ( and well feared ) mafia family. With their family name they have the power to get anything or do anything they want * sigh, swoon*
If I were one of the Colletto´s I´d walk in Mc Donalds and order a cheeseburger. I just know I´d get one looking exactly like the cheeseburgers they show in the TV commercials. Just like that. * double sigh* Anyways……..
This family had it in them to move heaven and hell until one day the family was torn apart by awful events. After the family reunion ( years later ) all four brothers intensified in character.
Michael, Ettore, Dace and Antony couldn´t have been any more different from one another even if they tried. And as for their jobs…..well let´s say they were just as different but still connected. They all work for and against each other. How exciting..:-) I LOVED IT!
I actually got a kick out of all the characters from this book. From the mafia gang to the cops….all loveable. It´s a good versus evil kind of story. Only question is: Who is good and who is evil? Who is trying to fuck who over? This author keeps you guessing which dickhead wants who dead all the time!
Not to forget the sexy love intrest in this story. What went down between Austin ( heroine ) and Dace was something totally emotional in every way possible. I was shocked, I laughed alot, and I was hurting for these two. My God…the stuff they went through was unbelievable.
It was a dark, full of action, mafia ROMANCE ( honestly….the romance in this one nearly killed me. That´s how GOOD it was * wink wink*) with a touch of pure awesomeness. Deadly, sexy to the core!
My opinion on the author:
I´ve read every book written by this author and I can easily say she´s created a small masterpiece with this one. I hardly read a book that has everything I crave for in it. I LOVE angst, I LOVE not knowing what will happen next, I LOVE strong characters with realistic backgrounds, I LOVE to torture myself with the idea that the events I read about can happen in real life, and I LOVE when a story has a dialogue I can keep up with. Jennifer Loren creates characters who aren´t broken…they become broken ( more or less ) at some point in her stories. They´re all pretty normal until shit hits the fan. That shows me, as a reader, that this author has it in her to gradually create a disaster instead of throwing it in at the very beginning. But what I personally enjoy the most is her talent for balance. The characters in her books have their fair share of good and bad moments. Life can´t be 100% crappy, right? Jennifer Loren is a wickedly cool rockstar author with a badass talent for writing unforgettable stories.
If you´re a fan of this author´s The Devil´s Eyes series…then The Law Of Kings will blow your mind.
Would I recommend this book?
Would I re-read this book?
Oooooh yes I would.

For a girl who dared to tempt death, living is the only promise that matters now.
Jay’s life almost came to a forced end when her darkest secrets were revealed and the one who she chose to give her future to was ripped away. Now, everything she kept hidden is the topic of everyone’s conversation, and not all are sympathetic. Someone wants her horrific past to dictate her future, and another is determined to help her choose a different path.
In conclusion to Ruining Me, Kane and Rhye know that Jay is worth the fight, but waiting for her to find herself may ruin them all.
Ruining You is the second installment in the Ruining series. After book #1 ( Ruining Me ), I was a total mess. Now, after book #2 ( Ruining You ) I´m an even bigger mess, but I feel better. Just when I thought the sobbing was over (for me) I was sent through more tears. No bueno.
These two books / this author is the reason I keep reading. Even though this story was more heart shattering and made me ball my eyes out I still believe the story worth totally worth it.
It´s really hard not to talk about this story without giving anything away, but I strongly feel the need to force this emotional read ( book #1 and #2!!!) onto everyone. I might never EVER read these books again ( I just can´t handle a second round of an emotional meltdown ), but I want the whole world to read this story at least once so everyone can go through what I did.
There was nothing that made me dislike anything in this book. The story was ( as mentioned before ) devastating, painful, and totally heartbreaking. But I also felt the love, compassion and and devotion.
How does life get better? Where do you start and when does the struggle end? Can someone, who has gone through the worst, ever find happiness again?
The characters, despite their hard paths, were intelligent! I loved the dialogue so much. These fictional people were pretty young and yet the author gave them the right portion of brains. Loved it! But my favorite of all characters was Eli. Bless him. I want somone like that in my life. He helped Jay in the best way ever, showing her life is worth living. And Kane and Rhye. Dear God…..it was a beautiful mess. Lots and lots of heavy, well written drama which I couldn´t get enough of.
The end didn´t make my sobbing stop. My sadness was just replaced by happy tears and relief for Jay. I´m glad the author chose to give these characters a HEA. I mean….after so much darkness there has to be a light somewhere at the end of the tunnel, right? But the big question is…..who did Jay pick? Kane or Rhye? Who was the one who could give her everything she needed, including more? All I can say about the end and Jay´s decission is that I am 100% satisfied.
If you want to read this book…go ahead. I´m not stopping anyone. Just be prepared to have a box of tissues. You will constantly feel the up´s and down´s and you will be exhausted from all the smiling, and ugly crying.
Would I recommend this book?
Would I re-read this book?
Nope. * laughing* It´s enough that I have the books on my shelf. Don´t need to torture myself again. 🙂

To Whom it May Concern,
It was easy to call us forbidden and harder to call us soulmates. Yet I believed we were both. Forbidden soulmates.
When I arrived to Edgewood, Wisconsin I didn’t plan to find him. I didn’t plan to stumble into Joe’s bar and have Daniel’s music stir up my emotions. I had no clue that his voice would make my hurts forget their own sorrow. I had no idea that my happiness would remember its own bliss.
When I started senior year at my new school, I wasn’t prepared to call him Mr. Daniels, but sometimes life happens at the wrong time for all the right reasons.
Our love story wasn’t only about the physical connection.
It was about family. It was about loss. It was about being alive. It was silly. It was painful. It was mourning. It was laughter.
It was ours.
And for those reasons alone, I would never apologize for loving Mr. Daniels.
Loving Mr. Daniels. Hmm. I wasn´t sure if I should give it a 2 or a 3 rating. It´s kind of hard to decide because:
#1 – I don´t enjoy SAD stories. They´re just not my thing ( even if there´s a HEA).
#2 – I didn´t appreciate all the dead characters. There were to many reasons to be sad about.
It seemed to me that death was the main theme in this book. Lol. How am I supposed to concentrate on a growing relationship when someone bites the dust? ( mind you….there were quite a few dead characters in this book ) It´s so hard to see what´s actually going on when a tragedy pops up and makes everyone sad again. The beginning of the book had me balling my eyes out and then the story somehow got a little happier.
The book description had me thinking this would be an ABSOLUTE forbidden lovestory. Teacher / Student novels are rare and I was hoping this one would blow my mind, instead of making me blow my nose. There should be a different book description for this book. I totally expected more drama in the Teacher/Student department.
The characters were OK. I actually enjoyed Daniel´s character alot more than I did Ashlyn´s. By the way: Daniel Daniels? Not a very original name. I actually know someone who´s name is Peter Peters and everytime I see him I can´t help but think if his parents disliked him when they had to name him.
ANYWAYS: Now to Ashlyn. The heroine was so exhausting at times. Yes, she was in constant pain due to the loss of her twin, but COME ON! Give me a break here. Ashlyn gave me the impression that the world should revolve around her. There were characters in just as much pain ( or already dead, which is worse in my opinion) and she brushed it off. Nothing was worse than what she went through.
I did enjoy a few things about this story.
#1 – Daniel. I felt for him in every way possible.
#2 – I really loved the writing style. It was simple and kind of poetic.
#3 – The dual POV.
#4 – There were some great scenes. They weren´t standing out like I hoped they would…but they were still there. The devastating parts were definitely more dominant.
The end was not my thing either. Things were rushed. You get your Happily Ever After….but not stretched out enough to appreciate the happy events.
All in all this book wasn´t THAT bad. Besides the fact that Daniels name made me do my WTH face and that Ashlyn got on my last nerve, and not to forget all the sad circumstances….I´d say the story was decent. Not my kind of style….but I can see why others would fall for this sad…oh so sad book.
Would I recommend this book?
Yes and no.

Sinning never felt so good…
A fortuitous encounter.
A meeting that should never have happened.
Many years ago, two children from completely different worlds forged a connection, a fateful connection, an unbreakable bond that would change their lives forever…
Salome knows only one way to live—under Prophet David’s rule. In the commune she calls home, Salome knows nothing of life beyond her strict faith, nor of life beyond the Fence—the fence that cages her, keeps her trapped in an endless cycle of misery. A life she believes she is destined to always lead, until a horrific event sets her free.
Fleeing the absolute safety of all she has ever known, Salome is thrust into the world outside, a frightening world full of uncertainty and sin; into the protective arms of a person she believed she would never see again.
River ‘Styx’ Nash knows one thing for certain in life—he was born and bred to wear a cut. Raised in a turbulent world of sex, Harleys, and drugs, Styx, unexpectedly has the heavy burden of the Hades Hangmen gavel thrust upon him, and all at the ripe old age of twenty-six—much to his rivals’ delight.
Haunted by a crushing speech impediment, Styx quickly learns to deal with his haters. Powerful fists, an iron jaw and the skillful use of his treasured German blade has earned him a fearsome reputation as a man not to be messed with in the shadowy world of outlaw MC’s. A reputation that successfully keeps most people far, far away.
Styx has one rule in life—never let anyone get too close. It’s a plan that he has stuck to for years, that is, until a young woman is found injured on his lot… a woman who looks uncannily familiar, a woman who clearly does not belong in his world, yet a woman he feels reluctant to let go…
Contemporary Romance/New Adult Novel.
WARNING: Contains sexual situations, violence, taboo subjects, offensive language and mature topics. Recommended for age 18 years and up*
Once upon a time…there was a fence.
It´s hard to tell what I loved most about this book because there were alot of things I really enjoyed. Unfortunately…..there were also the things I could have done without.
The idea of colliding 2 different worlds with one another is fantastic. I loved to read about the bad-ass, brutal MC´s and the passionate nutcases from a cult. That was exciting to no end!
I also enjoyed the lovestory between Styx and Mae. It wasn´t unique but it fit the story well.
The whole „ I´m gonna beat the shit out of you and kill your sorry ass“ theme was realistic. In my opinion…..I thought the author did her homework more than well ( as she very well explained that in the author´s note) Same goes for the cult side. Very extreme and scary. The author shows a reader what these extreme believers are capable of.
The fact that the author used Greek Mythology was also grand! The hero´s name, the MC´s name, and the lovestory was all connected with Hades and Persephone. Styx / River was named after one of the rivers from Hades….and the biker club was called Hades Hangmen. So, another, complete different world added to the story. The bikers even lived out a ritual from the old Greek days ( putting 2 coins on a dead bodies eyes to pay the ferry on their way to Hades..)
Now to the characters:
Styx/ River was as tough as they come. He was the President of the Hades Hangmen. A sexy as sin young guy who was feared by his enemies and adored by the „ bitches“. I enjoyed his character alot but I couldn´t picture him as he was described. He was possessive and he had a kind side to him….but the sexiness was more in the background for me than all the events. ANYWAYS….what made his character more interesting for me was his disability. No fucked-up- ness. He was as normal as a biker can be….:-)
Salome….or Mae was the complete opposite of Styx and his world of bikers. She was innocent, kind, and quite dull * laughing* I´d like to refer to her as a beautiful abused chruch mouse. The place where she came from was creepy as shit and I was sooooo rooting for her to find out about the real world.
The only…..yes, ONLY thing I disliked about this book was the word „ bitch“. I´m usually a huge fan of using that word ( and many other cuss words, for that matter) myself, but seriously: Bitch was used as a term of endearment. I get the biker language and all…it was just alot of BITCH for one book. „ Bitch gone“, „ Bitch died“, „ Where´s my bitch?“….
NOTE: That was not the original Dialogue
The love Triangle, the fear, all the blood, the murder, the sex….it was all exciting and I just cannot wait to get my hands on the next installment of the series!
My favorite character from the book would absolutely be the fucked up Flame. Dangerous as hell and I´m totally eager to find out what he has to offer!
Have I mentioned the cover? Loved it! And the Title? Now….I´ve been singing It Ain´t Me, Babe from Johnny Cash for hours ( I know the song isn´t from Johnny Cash, but I loved his version much better) and I will forever connect that book with the song…or the other way around!

About The Author
Melissa Rolka grew up in the Chicagoland area all of her childhood and has always had a love of writing. She started by keeping a journal at a young age and then in high school she started writing poetry. A couple poems were published anonymously. The Perfect Distraction is her first full length novel. A second continuation of this story is in the works with hopes for a third. When Melissa is not writing she is caring for, playing with and loving her two kids. In between taking care of her family and writing she almost always has her nose buried in her Kindle.

Is falling in love the beginning . . . or the end?
In Ethan Wate’s hometown there lies the darkest of secrets . . .
There is a girl. Slowly, she pulled the hood from her head . . . Green eyes, black hair. Lena Duchannes.
There is a curse. On the Sixteenth Moon, the Sixteenth Year, the Book will take what it’s been promised. And no one can stop it.
In the end, there is a grave.
Lena and Ethan become bound together by a deep, powerful love. But Lena is cursed and on her sixteenth birthday, her fate will be decided.Ethan never even saw it coming.
This was a freaking cool dark / fantasy / magical / mystery / paranormal book! Seriously….we thought the story was unique.
What started out pretty normal and simple in a small town called Gatlin, South Carolina. Gatlin is filled with stuffy families who´ve occupied the town for generations and hardly welcome anyone new or anyone who doesn´t share the same opinion. If you don´t have a club card, you ain´t comin´in.
So, bored Ethan stumbles upon the new kid in town, Lena, who is even more awkward and isn´t really accepted by Gatlin´s society ( even if her family has occupied the same town for just as long as other families). Lena is a shy, reserved young girl who dresses odd and acts even more strange. Both become friends ( later they become more ) and go through an adventerous journey that never dies down.
Even if Ethan had a boring life at the beginning, it immediately felt like we were being sucked into a world we had no clue existed. We had a ball reading about what he / they went through to get the missing pieces to their puzzle. Lena and Ethan´s unknown connection to each other kept us guessing and guessing and guessing…. We were kept in the dark through-out the complete story. A total unpredictable tale about love, loyalty, independence, and….MAGIC!
We were constantly aware of the potential danger that was dangling above the main characters, but never knew until close to the end what was going to happen.
There was just one thing that startled us…there was a short „ Carrie“ moment during a classroom scene. It was fun….but it reminded us of the movie „ Carrie“. That didn´t ruin the story at all. We´d say it made the story even more interesting. The things Lena went through were sad and no one but her own uncle and Ethan were there for her ( since the rest of the town was against her ).
We´re not huge fans of giving too much info away, so we´ll stop right here with our review.
The characters were ALL wonderful and made us want to know more about them. We enjoyed the steady build-up and the cute, yet still intense, love the main characters shared with each other.
If you want an EXCITING, MAGICAL, ENCHANTING, and CAPTIVATING read….then you must get this book. It´s fun.
Even if this book isn´t stuffed with sexual content, or sexy as hell vampires we´d recommend this book to everyone who loves a really good story. Just keep in mind that this book has 563 pages ( it´s a damn long read! ).

After years of bad relationships and a cheating ex-fiancé, twenty-eight-year-old Mia Martinelli prefers healing her patients’ hearts on the Cardiac Care floor rather than risking having her heart broken again. But that all comes to a screeching halt when caring for the head roadie for Runaway Train puts her into the orbit of drummer and Latin Lover, AJ Resendiz. After a scorching weekend of steamy passion, Mia’s intention of getting out with her heart unscathed is challenged by the stud with the wicked sense of humor, especially when he wants to continue seeing her. But when the harsh reality of AJ’s hoard of female admirers sends her insecurities into overdrive, Mia bails, leaving him handcuffed to his bathroom shower.
AJ never imagined that after two weeks of the best sex and female companionship he’d ever experienced, he would need rescued by his band mates from his shower prison. Although he tries to forget the sensual brunette whose curves made his mouth water, AJ can’t get her out of his mind…or his heart. Months later when he finally seeks Mia for answers as to why she left, nothing could prepare him for their life-altering reunion.
Can AJ prove to Mia that regardless of the women after his body, his heart belongs only to her?
*shaking head .I´m sad. And I´m exhausted. And now I know for sure that this series wasn´t meant for me. Usually, if I didn´t fancy the first book of a series…then I won´t touch the following installments. Now, why did I go for book # 2 if book #1 didn´t tackle me down? Because I was hoping the story would be better. It wasn´t better. In fact, I thought it deserved a lesser rating as the first book. Why? Well, for one….the story was ( as the first book was ) predictable. And let´s not forget that the story was unrealistic. The characters – unrealistic. I can´t imagine anyone who can relate to these figures. I know that books are supposed to be entertaining and all…..but I don´t think it´s too much to ask for a shot of something everyone can relate too. The only reason I´m giving this book 3 instead of 2 is because of the fabulous cover ( and because I haven´t completely lost faith in the author )
The Heroine, Mia, chewed on my last nerve and AJ was just sweet. Allthough he was supposed to be a magnet for the female popluation, I couldn´t help that I thought he was just sweet. I didn´t feel the push and pull relationship they had for each other. There was no heart racing or nail biting from my side. As for the drama factor: It was mild. There´s actually not much drama when the story is focused on sex. Yes, let´s move onto the subject. From the get-go the main characters were at each other, or in each other non stop. It pained me to read about how many orgasms the couple shared at the beginning. How is it possible to have 12 mind blowing orgasms and still walk like a normal human being afterwards?
( NOTE: I´d really like an answer to that one.) The reason for my exhaustion probably came from reading the steamy scenes. Sheesh.
As for the sadness I feel deep down…..I´d say it´s there because I thought there´d be more romance, a build-up and more tension. I don´t want to beat this book up. I really tried to focus more and relate to anything there was in Beat Of The Heart. I couldn´t.
Anyways…..there was too much sex and less gripping story. I recognized where the author wanted to go with this book, but the message wasn´t delivered.
The end didn´t surprise me what-so-ever ( since Mia and AJ´s story was set out to have a HEA ).
- Would I recommend this book?
For readers who crave on-going sex in books with super hot rockstars, yes. For readers who want a more depth, more realistc characters, maybe no. A good read for inbetween.
- Would I re-read this book?
No. I can go through another orgasm marathon. Not like that.

Short Excerpt Trust Me?
I turn to face him; he puts his other arm around me. We are in the same position as before when the last kiss attempt failed. My arms are tight around his neck, his arms around my waist. I look down. He lifts up my chin so I’m lost in his gaze. His hand goes back to my waist. He swallows; I think he’s as nervous as I am. He tilts his head and leans in … I back away quickly.
“What’s wrong?” he asks, looking hurt.
“Oh, no, it’s not you. I think … I might have garlic breath.”
He laughs and pulls me back to him. “So do I.” He pulls me in tighter, and before I know what’s happening, his lips are on mine. I give in and surrender to him completely.
This feels like one of my fantasies, only way, way better. He holds me tight as one hand moves from my waist to caress my cheek, kissing me softly but sensually. My hands move to the back of his head, and I grab a lock of hair in each hand. He moves our bodies so that I’m against the railing at the edge of the deck. He moves his hand from my waist to hold the rail as I still grasp his hair. The kissing becomes feverishly passionate; his tongue against mine as they intertwine with each other. Our breathing becomes faster and erratic. Our kissing becomes more intimate. We are in perfect sync with each other. I pull him closer to me, our whole bodies touching. My heart is pounding fast and hard. His hand moves from my face to the back of my head, pulling me tight. He moves my hair from the side of my neck, breaks our kiss and kisses my neck slowly and seductively. I sigh and breathe in a stuttering motion. I open my eyes to see the waitress standing there, gawking at us. I stiffen as I see her. He pulls back and looks at me. With my eyes, I gesture toward the waitress. He turns, looks, and lets out a little huff. He leans in towards me.
“Now that’s a first kiss,” he whispers as he grabs my hand and leads me over to the table. I can’t help but smile.

Short Excerpt Love Me?
My nerves start to get the better of me, I start to feel nauseous; those darn pesky butterflies attack again. I’m not sure why I’m nervous, whether it’s the shoes making me unstable or whether it’s the memory of our first date, our first touch, or our first kiss that’s making me bashful.
I turn the corner to see him standing there with a bunch of red roses, in the suit that he changed into earlier, this time with a baby pink tie on. Behind him is that gorgeous waterfall cascading down the cliff with the lush greenery surrounding us. As I take a step closer, I hear music playing. “Thank You for Loving Me” by Bon Jovi. It’s our song. I feel my eyes welling up as all the emotion and love I feel for this man is becoming too much to bear.
His smile is beaming from ear to ear when I approach. Finally I reach him. He holds out his hand for me to take. I take it, and he pulls me into a tight embrace.
“This is perfect,” I whisper.
“Perfection for perfection, my love.” He kisses my cheek, and places the bouquet of flowers on the railing.

Short Excerpt All of Me?
“Aiden, I’m so sorry.” I take hold of his hand and cry in despair.
He pulls away. “I can’t, Jeni. I’m leaving.”
I stand watching him in shock. He can’t leave! “Where are you going?” I ask, tears streaming down my face.
“I thought your father was going?”
“He was, but then I said I’d go when you… you left me. Jeni, I’m moving there.”
My heart sinks to the floor; I’m going to lose him forever. How can this be going so wrong?
I stumble on the spot as a wave of unimaginable regret surges through me.
“I think you should go.” His voice is cold and distant. He turns and heads toward his office. Pretty bitch stares at me, biting her bottom lip.
Brielle stands up and walks over.
“Jeni, I’m so sorry, but I think you’re too late.” A tear escapes, running down her cheek.
“I miss you, Bree. I miss everyone, especially Aiden.” I take a deep breath and try to compose myself.
“We miss you too, Jeni, especially him.” She wipes a tear from her cheek.
“Guess I fucked up big time.”
She gives me an understanding nod. “Maybe he’ll come around. I’ll talk to him.”
I shake my head. “No, it’s fine. I’m obviously too late.” I hit my forehead with my hand a few times and wince. How could I have been so stupid?
I turn and walk to the elevator, push the button, and look back at Aiden’s closed office door. The elevator doors open and I enter. Why did I leave it so long to realize how I felt? What the hell is wrong with me? I’m a total idiot, and now I have lost the only man I’ll ever truly love. My heart and soul belong to Aiden. I’m sure I’ll never get over this.
