Finding Cinderella ( Hopeless #2.5) – Colleen Hoover

finding cinderella

This novella is a companion novel to the Hopeless series, but can be read as a standalone.

This is going to be hard for me to write because I have been a fan of Colleen Hoover ever since she published Hopeless. When I saw the cover and title I thought I´d be getting a full blown „ Colleen Hoover“ version of the actual fairytale Cinderella. That´s not what I got. I expected alot more with this one. I´m not saying I disliked the book….I´m just saying I had 100% mixed feelings after reading Finding Cinderella. I enjoyed some parts of the novella. I actually thought the story started off SOOOOO cute. The characters were sweet ( as sweet as a YA character created by Colleen Hoover can be ) and the emotional parts were more than fantastic. I love how Colleen Hoover can make you feel every sad / happy moment with her writing. She never diappoints in that department.

I´m not going to bother with copying the actual book description because I can do one with only 5 sentences. Ready?

Boy kills time in a dark maintance room until a mystery girl pops in and both exchange their teenage problems until they sleep with each other. Then mystery girl announces she´ll never visit him in the maintance room because she´s leaving but boy finds himself falling for mystery gal. 1 year later, boy falls head over heels for a girl named Six. Six and boy get along far too well in such a short time until one big fat secret is revealed. A huge issue makes the couples lives a short living hell and they live happily ever after.

And that, my dear friends, is the whole book. It´s more or less a cute, short, unrealistic, totally predictable read.

Six was not an odd girl in my opinion, even if her character was discribed as such. She was just a normal teenager. The fact that she had a reputation didn´t bother me one bit because I thought she didn´t have one. My biggest issue with her was her name. Her real name was Seven but she nicknamed herself Six? Uuuuhm…okay. And how she was supposed to be this unbelievable….the ULTIMATE bomb of a young woman. I mean…Six had the looks of an angel and her character was pure and non-girly like. I´m totally fine with all that….but I didn´t find her appealing enough to be THE best heroine ever.

Daniel was okay. He was nothing compared to Holder…but I could easily live with that. Daniel was as cute as a button and I would have dated him if he were a real person..:-)

The rest of the gang was okay as well.

Like I said…..I expected a little more with Finding Cinderella. More love, more pages, and more intensity.

Still…I will not wish this book or the author to hell. I know Colleen Hoover has it in her to write a fabulous novel. She did it before…just not with this one.

Would I recommend this book?

To any Colleen Hoover die hard fans, yes.

Would I re-read this book?

Probably not.

Chastity Belt – Shoshanna Evers

chastity belt

* I purchased this book out of pure curiosity *

I am so confused. Shit…..how do I write a review for a book that was just as thin as a magazine ( or even thinner)? Okay…this book was a total surprise. Let´s say that when this book arrived in the mail….I couldn´t stop laughing. Novella´s these days are getting so so small. But hey…for 5 euros ( 6,88 dollars ) I couldn´t complain much.

Let´s start with what I read about the book, shall we? Or better…what got me interested:

* Book Description *

Georgia Hearn has found the perfect way to make easy cash—performing an interactive BDSM-flavored stage show at the exclusive Gentlemen’s Club. When handsome GC client Jonathan Syler goes up onstage and locks her into a chastity belt, it’s all supposed to be part of the fun. But Jonathan makes it clear he won’t be unlocking her anytime soon.

Now she’s at his mercy—and has no choice but to see him again, since he holds the key to her pleasure. Literally.

*Back To My Thoughts*

See…..when I read that on Goodreads, I was like: ” Hell, let´s give this one a try!”. And believe it or not, I actually liked it. * shaking my head and can´t stop laughing *
This story has 74 pages. Can you imagine how fast I finished this book? This was such a quick read. A really good quick read. Sometimes a novella that small…..wait…here´s a picture of how thin this book really is….

thin book

When a novella is that small, you can imagine how the story will be, right? Short ( d´uh ) and not very informative. NOT THIS book. Honestly….I was totally surprised while reading Chastity Belt. It had good characters and the story was unique. Everything was fast, but well paced. And let´s not forget the authors writing style. I enjoyed that too! It´s just such a shame that this book didn´t have more pages. I absolutely believe this could have been a great 374 page book. The potential is there to make something more out of it all.

Now to the things I didn´t enjoy so much.
Yes…the title basically says it all. Chastity Belt. Georgia gets one on after performing at a BDSM club ( the GC ) by a guy named Jonathan. There´s enough kinky stuff in this book to satisfy any erotica reader, but I didn´t get off on the F/F scenes. That and when Georgia invited her BFF to play with her and her new boyfriend. That was something I could have done without. Other than that….I really thought this was an enjoyable read. ( as far as you can enjoy 74 pages )

I can see why Shoshanna Evers is a Bestselling Erotica Author. She can write pretty good scenes.

So, if you´re looking for an enjoyable, kinky as hell, sexy, and fun read….get this book, or novella, or small novella. It´s fun 🙂

Now…because of the F/F parts and the fact that I cut my slices of bread thicker than this novella, I´m going to rate Chastity Belt with a 3. Good story, but to short for my taste.

Would I recommend this book?

– YES. It was good..:-)

Would I re-read this book?

– Sure. 🙂

A Beautiful Wedding – Jamie McGuire

a beautiful wedding

I must say…..Beautiful Disaster ( # 1 ) and Walking Disaster ( Book # 2 ) are books I have on my Kindle AND on my bookshelf. I thought they were worth having double. When A Beautiful Wedding arrived at my door I was out of it and started to read Jamie McGuire´s new novella.

Okay, besides the fact that this novella was pretty short, I thought it was good. Not over the top fantastic, just good.

This book shows us what happened shortly before their runaway Vegas wedding, and what happened after Pigeon and Travis were husband and wife.

How did the two end up getting married in the first place? And what motive did they have besides just loving each other?
How was married life for the craziest couple on this planet? Can their marriage stand a chance at their young age?

All the answers are in this book.

There is no way in telling anything about this book without giving anything major away.

I believe the author could have turned this book into something more big and make the story MUCH more exciting if she wanted too. I mean….Book 1 and 2 were packed with drama, love, obsession, heartbreak, etc and this one wasn´t to spectacular. There were a few new scenes ( insight on what we missed out on in book 1 + 2 ) but nothing that knocked me over. A reader gets to see how the ceremony went, how they felt before and after, and read about the heavy guilt they had to deal with regarding the last fight Travis had that killed a few college kids.

For me….well, I was a little disappointed. Not much with the story. But with the price. In my opinion, this novella was too expensive. This story has 142 pages and cost just as much as the first 2 which were much bigger.

Hardcover – $ 9,49  ( 10,90 euro )
Kindle –      $ 10,84  ( 7,89 euro )

Since I live in Europe….I paid 10, 90 euros and that is around $ 15 for a book with 142 pages. Now, I know I could have not bought the book, but I skipped the info about the page amount and just bought it.

Would I say this book wasn´t worth the 10, 90 euros? YES! Sadly….I have to say that compared to the first 2 books, this was expensive. I paid the same money for less to read.

With all the negative aspects, I´d still say this book was good. It was a nice and decent companion to the stories before. Nothing more…Nothing less.

I would say that this book is a MUST READ for all die – hard Travis Maddox fans. For those who just enjoyed the books might be a little disappointed with this one.
