This novella is a companion novel to the Hopeless series, but can be read as a standalone.
This is going to be hard for me to write because I have been a fan of Colleen Hoover ever since she published Hopeless. When I saw the cover and title I thought I´d be getting a full blown „ Colleen Hoover“ version of the actual fairytale Cinderella. That´s not what I got. I expected alot more with this one. I´m not saying I disliked the book….I´m just saying I had 100% mixed feelings after reading Finding Cinderella. I enjoyed some parts of the novella. I actually thought the story started off SOOOOO cute. The characters were sweet ( as sweet as a YA character created by Colleen Hoover can be ) and the emotional parts were more than fantastic. I love how Colleen Hoover can make you feel every sad / happy moment with her writing. She never diappoints in that department.
I´m not going to bother with copying the actual book description because I can do one with only 5 sentences. Ready?
Boy kills time in a dark maintance room until a mystery girl pops in and both exchange their teenage problems until they sleep with each other. Then mystery girl announces she´ll never visit him in the maintance room because she´s leaving but boy finds himself falling for mystery gal. 1 year later, boy falls head over heels for a girl named Six. Six and boy get along far too well in such a short time until one big fat secret is revealed. A huge issue makes the couples lives a short living hell and they live happily ever after.
And that, my dear friends, is the whole book. It´s more or less a cute, short, unrealistic, totally predictable read.
Six was not an odd girl in my opinion, even if her character was discribed as such. She was just a normal teenager. The fact that she had a reputation didn´t bother me one bit because I thought she didn´t have one. My biggest issue with her was her name. Her real name was Seven but she nicknamed herself Six? Uuuuhm…okay. And how she was supposed to be this unbelievable….the ULTIMATE bomb of a young woman. I mean…Six had the looks of an angel and her character was pure and non-girly like. I´m totally fine with all that….but I didn´t find her appealing enough to be THE best heroine ever.
Daniel was okay. He was nothing compared to Holder…but I could easily live with that. Daniel was as cute as a button and I would have dated him if he were a real person..:-)
The rest of the gang was okay as well.
Like I said…..I expected a little more with Finding Cinderella. More love, more pages, and more intensity.
Still…I will not wish this book or the author to hell. I know Colleen Hoover has it in her to write a fabulous novel. She did it before…just not with this one.
Would I recommend this book?
To any Colleen Hoover die hard fans, yes.
Would I re-read this book?
Probably not.
